Community is at the core of the church, essential to both evangelism and discipleship. Life Groups are another way for us to join in community and to fulfill our mission: To be and make active disciples of Jesus Christ. Life Groups consist of 8-12 people along with a leader who facilitates discussion around a Bible passage along with prayer for one another and how their life is going during COVID-19. Our next session of Life Groups will have 2 options: meeting in person or meeting online via zoom. |

Why are we forming Life Groups?
Small groups were foundational to the early church and are still foundational today for the biblical purposes of fellowship, ministry, discipleship, evangelism and worship. (Acts 2:42-47) Our church mission statement is “To be and make active Disciples of Christ”. Our purpose and vision for Life Groups support our church mission statement in the following ways:

Overview and purpose of life groups:
- Community is at the core of the church, essential to both evangelism and discipleship.
- True Christian community is both the basis and goal of evangelism; and as such, becomes the most effective school for discipleship. (Bill Donahue, Leading Life Changing Small Groups)
- Fellowship within the community dives beneath the surface and connects members to each other and to Christ.
Mission & Vision for Life Groups
- To glorify God by making gospel-centered disciples who make disciples, reaching those around us and stewarding all that God has given us.
Objectives
- Grow spiritually with others who want to learn and grow through God’s Word and application.
- Serve and fellowship together.
- Be accountable as we are sharpened one with another.
- Embrace sharing what we have learned (intentional discipleship).
How will Life Groups work?
- Life Groups consist of 8-12 people along with a leader who facilitates discussion around a Bible passage along with prayer for one another and how their life is going during COVID-19.
- Groups may include meals together, outings or events, but the primary focus of the groups will be on growth, mission, and discipleship.
- Child care can be arranged on an as needed basis.
Can people who do not attend Gilead Friends be part of our Life Group?
- There is not an expectation for all Life Group members to attend Gilead Friends, nor is our intention to recruit new members for our church. The goal is to be intentional about our mission and message of discipleship within our daily life – not just on Sunday or on a mission trip.
- The goal for Life Groups is to become a vehicle for anyone to grow spiritually in Christ through small group relationships, discipling and mission. Becoming that vehicle in our community, neighborhood or area where life happens is the best way to show Christ within our everyday lives.
Prayerfully consider becoming a part of Gilead Friends Life Groups.
